Bill Denehy

( January 8, 2013 ) Bill Denehy, a former Major League pitcher, was born in Middletown in 1946. Denehy pitched for the New York Mets (1967), Washington Senators (1968) and Detroit Tigers (1971). The Mets traded Denehy to the Washington Senators for the Senators' manager, Gil Hodges, after the 1967 season. Denehy returned to Connecticut to work as the pitching coach for the Bristol Red Sox in 1981 and 1982 and was the manager of the baseball team at the University of Hartford from 1985 through 1987. |
