Feel like a little sex?
Check out "Dr. Ruth, All the Way," the world premiere of a solo show starring Debra Jo Rupp (TV's "The Simpsons," "That '70s Show") by Mark St. Germain ("Freud's Last Session," "The Best of Enemies).
The show is part of the 2012 summer line-up at Barrington Stage in Pittsfield, Mass. from June 19 through July 15 staged by artistic director Julianne Boyd.
The show, which will play Stage 2, marks the first production of BSC’s New Works Initiative, in which playwrights and musical theatre writing teams will be commissioned to write work that BSC will produce.
Stage 2 will alsp feature the East Coast premiere of Pulitzer Prize-nominated playwright Rajiv Joseph's "The North Pool," a psychological cat-and-mouse thriller about a Middle Eastern student and his assistant high school principal. The show, directed by Giovanna Sardelli, runs July 26 through August 11.
Also at Stage 2w is the New England preem of Duncan Macmillan's "Lungs," staged by Aaron Posner (May 23 to June 10).
Barrington Stage Company’s Musical Theatre Lab, under composer William Finn (Falsettos," "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee," "Little Miss Sunshine") and Boyd will feature a workshop production of the garage rock band musical "The Black Suits," which runs Aug. 16 to Sept. 2. Music and lyrics are by Joe Iconis, with a book co-written with Robert Maddock. John Simpkins directs.
"Fiddler on the Roof," (June 13 to July 14) opens the main stage season; Arthur Miller's "The Price" with Jeff McCarthy follows July 19 to Aug. 4 and the 1945 sex farce by Philip King, "See How They Run," staged by John Rando, plays Aug. 9 to 26.
During the fall, Nigel William's stage adaptation of "Lord of the Flies" will run Oct. 3 to 21.
