Tony Award winning actress Frances Sternhagen will head a cast for a reading of Joe DiPietro's "Over the River and Through the Woods," part of the Script in Hand play reading series at Westport Country Playhouse.
The event will be held Monday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m.
The comedy centers on a Italian-American baxchelor who visits for dinner every Sunday his beloved and annoying grandparents.
Also in the cast ares Matthew Amendt, Nicole Lowrance, David Marguiles, Maria Tucci and Lenny Wolpe. Anne Keefe, the theater's artistic advisor. stages the show.
Sternhagen appeared at the Playhouse in “Triple Play,” “On Golden Pond,” “All My Sons,” and a Script in Hand presentation of “The Golden Age.” She received two Tony Awards for “The Good Doctor” and “The Heiress" and was nominated five other times for “Equus,” “On Golden Pond,” “The Sign in Sidney Brustein’s Window,” “Angel,” and “Morning’s at Seven.” She also played the title character of “Driving Miss Daisy” off-Broadway. On television, she played Cliff Clavin's mother in "Cheers."
Tickets are $15.
A reading of “The Philadelphia Story” by Philip Barry will be held on Monday, Dec, 10, 7 p.m. Other readings will be held Feb. 11 and March 11, with titles to be announced.
