Hurricanes Inspire National Theater Institute Students For New Work

National Theater Institute’s (NTI) 31 students at the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center in Waterford will present "They Were Under," an original work based on first hand and journalistic accounts, weather forecasts, and documentaries from Hurricane Sandy and the Hurricane of 1938.

The show, featuring student-composed music, the performance is set against Shakespeare’s two well known “Shipwreck Plays” -- "The Tempest" and "Comedy of Errors" -- " weaving together themes of loss, tragedy, and community unity experienced throughout the East during the two storms.

The free show will be presented Friday, Dec., 14 and Saturday, Dec. 15 in the Dina Merrill Theater at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center, 305 Great Neck Road, Waterford.
