Paul Beebe of South Windsor has been painting in watercolor since age 15. He is a graduate of Southern Connecticut State University with a degree in graphic design. He found himself drawn to marine subjects after his first visit to Martha's Vineyard 20 years ago. He became inspired by its rich maritime history and a great supply of subject matter in which he could express himself. He began to render the historic schooners, elegant racing yachts and paddle wheeled ferries that regularly cruised island waters. His interest in naval history has also led him to paint several ships of the 1800 and early 1900 U.S. Navy. His paintings are highly detailed works that feature luminous skies and vibrant colors.
