Manli Luo of Plainville specializes in Chinese brush painting and Chinese paper cutting, but also paints in acrylic and oils, in which she combines Chinese and American styles and media. Born in Kunming, China, she attended the Si Chuan Art Institute in ChongQing, China, and graduated with a bachelor's degree in design and fine arts. She received a certificate of interior design at Tong Ji University in Shanghai, China, and went on to teach art and design at the Shanghai Art & Crafts College. In New Britain, she has taught at Central Connecticut State University's Chinese Culture Center and at the New Britain Museum of American Art. She teaches Chinese brush painting classes at the Plainville Senior Center, the New Britain Art League, and in West Hartford.
