Thomas G. Mayer, of Old Saybrook and Plantsville, is primarily a "plein aire" painter, who chooses chiefly shoreline landscapes as subjects, painting locations from Waterford to Guilford. He is hosting an exhibit of oil paintings by at the Acton Public Library, 60 Old Boston Post Road in Old Saybrook. The exhibit runs through Jan. 3 during business hours. He is a painter and teacher who creates in various media including oils, acrylics, pastels, and mixed media. He exhibits in juried shows throughout Connecticut and has won various awards. He has won the Peoples' Choice Award at the Clinton Summer Art Exhibition, exhibited at the Florence Griswold Museum in Old Lyme, Lyme Art Association and Essex Art Association, and had solo exhibitions in New Haven, New Britain, Middletown, Berlin and Southington.
