This cartoon was inspired by something a new freshman Representative from Louisiana said, although you don't need to know the quote to enjoy the cartoon. Jeff Landry came to Washington without any previous experience in elected office. He said about the House debt ceiling/ budget plan, "When there is this type of pressure, I do what I was taught to do. I get on my knees and I ask for some understanding and some leadership."
Some of these new Congressmen are sensitive about how they think President Obama is portraying them. The same story had another great quote in it that may inspire another cartoon. Another freshman congressman Rep. Trey Gowdy from the great state of South Carolina said "We're not a bunch of knuckle-dragging, mouth-breathing Neanderthals."
No, they're not. They're a bunch of knuckle-dragging, mouth-breathing Australopithecus...es. That's an anthropologist joke. See, Australopithecus came before Neand...never mind.
