The sexual sizzle in David Ives' power play "Venus in Fur" will be generated by real-life engaged couple Liv Rooth and David Christopher Wells when the show plays Hartford TheaterWorks.
The Tony Award-nominated play, directed by Rob Ruggiero, runs Oct. 5 to Nov. 11.
Rooth was standby for the role on Broadway for Nina Arianda who won a Tony Award for her performance. (Rooth also stood by for Arianda the previous season on Broadway for the revival of "Born Yesterday.") Hugh Dancy also starred in "Venus in Fur" on Broadway
Rooth was last seen in Connecticut in Westport Country Playhouse production of Tennessee Williams' "Suddenly Last Sunmmer" with Annalee Jefferies. Rooth was also featured in the ensemble production iof "Noises Off" at Hartford Stage.
Wells was in Broadway's "The Coast of Utopia" and "The Rivals." Both starred recently in "Boeing Boeing" in Vermont.
