Kevin Gray knows a few things about the musical "Miss Saigon." After all he played the lead role of The Engineer in the Los Angeles and Toronto productions of the show.
Now as a Hartt School drama faculty member at the University of Hartford, Gray stages the show with students from the music theater program. The musical, with music by Claude-Michel Schonberg and lyrics by Richard Maltby and Alain Boublil, is loosely based on "Madame Butterfly," centering on a young Vietnamese girl and her story of survival in postwar Vietnam and Bangkok.
The production is through with a special arrangement by producer Cameron Mackintosh.
Michael Morris is music director. Choreography is by Ralph Perkins.
The show runs Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 25 to 27 at 7:30 p.m,.; and Sunday, Oct. 28 at 3 p.m. in Lincoln Theatre on the University of Hartford, 200 Bloomfield Ave., West Hartford.
