Outfielder Jimmy Piersall was a two-time All-Star and Gold Glove-winner during his 17-year MLB career. He played with five different teams during that span - most notably the Boston Red Sox (1950, 1952-58). Piersall battled bipolar disorder through much of his playing career, a struggle that was documented in the 1957 film 'Fear Strikes Out,' which starred Anthony Perkins. He attended Leavenworth High School in Waterbury.
