"Moonlight and Magnolias" About Script Struggles of "Gone With the Wind"

"Moonlight and Magnolias," Ron Hutchinson's comedy about the making of the script to "Gone With the Wind" begins performances this week at West Hartford's Playhouse on Park, 244 Park Road.

Previews begin Wednesday, Jan,. 23, opens Friday, Jan. 25 and runs through Feb. 10.

The comedy centers on efforts to rewrite the screenplay of "Gone With the Wind" when production is suddenly shut down and with only five days to get the job done,.

Production is directed by Russell Garrett (actor in Playhouse On Park's "Around the World in 80 Days") and stars Kevin Elden (National Tour of "Picasso At the Lapin Agile"), Denise Walker (Playhouse On Park's "Eqqus", Hartford Stage's "Our Town"), Allan Greenberg (Off Broadway's "Murder at the Howard Johnsons'), and Bill Mootos (New Repertory Theatre's "Little Shop of Horrors", Hanover Theatre's "A Christmas Carol").

A talk back with the cast and director will follow the Feb. 3 matinee.

Tickets are $22.50 to  $32.50 (Students, Seniors, Let's Go Arts members save $2.50 per ticket). Preview tickets are $15.
