Neurogen Corp. of Branford announced in April that laid off 45 workers and suspended early-stage research operations to focus on bringing its most advanced drugs closer to market.
Combined with about 70 layoffs in February, the latest cuts leave Neurogen with a total staff of 33, mostly scientists. The company employed 149 at the end of 2007.
