Legendary director Harold Prince will co-stage a new musical which is being developed to premiere at Hartford Stage for the 2014-15 season
Prince, 85, revealed the news in an interview with Peter Marks of the Washington Post regarding the postponement of the Broadway musical based on the musicals he produced and directed over his illustrious career, "The Prince of Broadway."
Orin Wolf ("Once," "Orphans") and Hartford Stage associate artistic director Maxwell Williams are developing the musical based on Eran Kolirin's film The Band's Visit, which won the Jury Coup de Coeur prize at the Cannes Film Festival.
In the Post article, Prince said he was "still tampering with the title,” of the show based on the film whose story is that of an Egytian police band invited to perform at an Israeli arts center. The band gets lost, ending up in a Jewish settlement in the heart of the Negev Desert.
