Origin of Ravens' Team Name: Edgar Allen Poe's "The Raven"

After Art Modell relocated his team from Cleveland to Baltimore, a fan contest was held to determine the team's new name, according to the <a href="http://www.profootballhof.com/history/team.aspx?franchise_id=3">Pro Football Hall of Fame's website</a>.  The chosen name, "Ravens," alludes to Edgar Allen Poe's famous 1845 poem.  Poe lived for a time in Baltimore and died there in 1849.
