( Patrick Raycraft/Hartford Courant / January 28, 2013 ) After Art Modell relocated his team from Cleveland to Baltimore, a fan contest was held to determine the team's new name, according to the Pro Football Hall of Fame's website. The chosen name, "Ravens," alludes to Edgar Allen Poe's famous 1845 poem. Poe lived for a time in Baltimore and died there in 1849. |
