Raymond Uzanas of Stonington writes: ¿During a 2011 backpacking trip to Wrangell-St. Elias N. P., Alaska, together with a guide and traveling companion, I hiked to this remote region of the park where Fan Glacier's terminal moraine strewed the rocky remnants of its downward journey. This photo shows the varied terrain we had to navigate to reach the base of the glacier, six miles in the distance. Wrangell-St.Elias is the largest of the United State's 58 national parks ¿ almost six times the size of Yellowstone. Its interior can be reached only by plane, which means that entry/exit is dependent on local weather conditions.
