Anne and Jim Snyder of Hartford write: "This is the port of Castellammare di Stabia, Italy, in the Gulf of Naples. Mount Vesuvius is across the bay and very prominent and the black sand beaches are the result of the eruption in 79 AD. This was an unexpected pleasure when the Azamara Quest docked here among fishing boats and yachts for the first time this past October for an overnight stay. The captain got permission to land here instead of Sorrento and Capri due to rough seas. The small town has a seaside promenade with tree-lined park along the entire beach area as well as plazas and narrow one-way streets."
