Southington Brass Blast

Mary Bilodeau, 11, of Southington, a student at the JFK Middle School, does her part on the French Horn, one of 300 brass musicians taking part in the second annual Brass Blast at Southington High School Saturday. The Southington Brass Blast is a brass festival to benefit organizations that support students and musicians. Organizers had hoped to gather enough brass player to break the Guinness World Record for the largest brass ensemble but they fell short of the 1,167 trumpeters needed to break the record. Organizer Erik Semmel said the gathering was for a good cause even if they did not come close to breaking the record.
