For the fourth time in program history, Fairfield's women's lacrosse team is the MAAC champion. The Stags defeated Canisius , 14-10, at Marist in the MAAC final as Fairfield's Kathleen Hulseman was named the Most Outstanding Player of the tournament after racking up 13 points. ... The Hartford baseball team swept UMBC, 9-7 and 4-2, in America East play Saturday at West Hartford. Chris Sullivan led the way for the Hawks (18-26, 12-5 league), going 3-for-7 and driving in six runs off a two-run double and solo home run in the first game and a bases-clearing double in the second game. The Retrievers are 18-22, 9-8. ... The Middlebury women's lacrosse team (15-2) scored six of the game's final seven goals to advance to the NESCAC championship game after a 16-13 win over sixth-seeded Trinity Saturday in Middlebury, Vt. Kiley Coffey had five goals for Trinity (11-6). ... Kiwi McDaniel hit two home runs and had three RBI and Jill Stockley tossed a complete game to lead the UConn softball team (20-33, 5-15 American) to a 3-1 win over host Tulsa. ... Top-seeded Plymouth State's women's lacrosse team rolled to a 19-8 win over second-seeded Eastern Connecticut (11-7) in the final of the Little East Conference playoffs in Plymouth, N.H. ... At Keene, N.H., the top-seeded Keene State men's lacrosse team outscored second-seeded Eastern Connecticut 24-8 to roll to its fifth straight LEC title. Eastern is 10-7.

Bees Topple Warriors

Mark Hamburger allowed a run over eight innings, allowing five hits, and the New Britain Bees took a 7-1 win over the Road Warriors Saturday at New Britain Stadium. Reid Brignac led the Bees — who won their second straight after starting 0-6 — at the plate with three hits and two RBI.
