Mara Lieberman is the new artistic director Bated Breath Theatre Company, which is is restructuring as "a performance collective in order to bring a wide variety of cutting-edge performances to the Hartford area."
The not-for-profit thesater company presented a new play "Hunger" last fall at Hartford's
Lieberman, originally joined the company to devise and act in "Hunger," succeeds founding artistic director Helene Kvale.
"Mara brings a wealth of creative experience to the company with vision and energy to boot," says Kvale, who will remain an active member of the company. "I am excited that she is guiding Bated Breath into our next chapter."
Said collective member Ann Sciglimpaglia: "Restructuring as a collective will enable Bated Breath to better showcase the expertise of the company's members. Performance can be made in all different spaces and at all different levels, and Bated Breath is going to make performance a part of Connecticut's everyday experience."

Besides Kvale, Lieberman, Sciglimpaglia and Ciano, the collective also includes Michael Bradford, Glen Nicholes, Paul Spirito and Greg Webster.
