Besides the New Haven Green concerts, there will be other musical events at the International Festival of Arts & Ideas, which takes place June 16 to 30 in New Haven including the return of the popular "Music at Dusk" series at 470 College St. and a series of international choir shows.
The "Music at Dusk" concerts will feature: the Argentine tango guitar quartet (and vocalist) 34 Punaladas on Tuesday, June 26 at 8 p.m.; the Ben Allison Band with poet Robert Pinksy on Wednesday, June 27 at 8 p.m.; and the Yuval Ron Ensemble on Thursday, June 28 at 8 p.m. (The ensemble unites the sacred music traditions of Judaism, Sufism, and the Armenian Church into an unusual mystical, spiritual, and inspiring musical celebration. The ensemble of musicians and dancers includes Arabic, Jewish, and Christian artists.) Tickets are $35 and $45.
Also on tap is the Yale International Choral Festival that six choirs from around the world: Tuesday, June 19 at 8 p.m. (Yale Choral Artists, U.S.); Wednesday, June 20 at 5 p.m. (Manado State University Choir, Indonesia),Wednesday, June 20 at 8 p.m. (Central Conservatory of Music Choir, China); Thursday, June 21 at 5 p.m. (Imilonji Kantu Choral Society, South Africa); Friday, June 22 at 8 p.m. (Cambridge University Consort of Voices, United Kingdom); Saturday, June 23 at 6 p.m. (Yale Alumnus Chorus performing Verdi's "Hymn of the Nations" This final concert is free and features the New Haven Symphony Orchestra with Russell Thomas, soloist.) Tickets for the other shiows are $35 and $45.
