Free asthma screenings are scheduled for May

Share

Free asthma screenings will be offered in May around the country, including several in Los Angeles and Orange counties, according to the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology.

Allergists encourage anyone who has breathing problems such as coughing, wheezing or shortness of breath or uncontrolled asthma to attend a screening. This year, the Nationwide Asthma Screening Program includes a special initiative to identify people who have difficulty breathing during or immediately after exercise and may have a condition called exercise-induced bronchoconstriction.

The upcoming screenings are:

• Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Marina del Rey Medical Offices, 4650 Lincoln Blvd., Marina del Rey
• May 14, 7 a.m. to noon, Palos Verdes Marathon, Terranea Resort, Fisherman’s Access parking lot, 6610 Palos Verdes Drive South, Rancho Palos Verdes
• May 14, 9 a.m. to noon, Duck-A-Thon, Huntington Beach Pier Plaza, 400 Pacific Coast Highway, Huntington Beach
• May 14, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wal-Mart, 8230 Talbert Ave., Huntington Beach

Resources on asthma are available at AllergyAndAsthmaRelief.org, including self-tests for adults and children called the LQ Test and Kids’ Asthma Check.
