Just in time for National Influenza Vaccination Week -- a flu-shot gift card

Share

With all the hubbub over tax breaks and unemployment, it’s interesting that flu shots turned up on the president’s radar this week. President Obama signed a proclamation declaring this week as National Influenza Vaccination Week.

As this proclamation says: “Last year, as the world prepared for a pandemic of the 2009 H1N1 influenza virus, we were reminded of the severity and unpredictability of this serious disease. Thousands of Americans suffered serious complications from the 2009 H1N1 influenza virus, resulting in hospitalization or even death. Tragically, influenza and flu related complications take American lives each year.”

It’s great timing, of course. Flu season peaks from January to March.

So what type of flu shot should you get? Flu.gov provides information on how to decide between spray, one dose of shot and two doses of shot. And here‘s a handy “where to get vaccinated in your community” finder.

Some employers offer free shots that actually helps their bottom line, as this Booster Shots post says. For those who don’t, prices usually top out around $25 to $30 for a vaccination.

Who knows, maybe someone will give you a flu-shot gift card from Walgreens – and no fair re-gifting it.
