We did it again — nearly let one of those awareness events pass by unnoticed. It's day five of Drinking Water Week!
The American Water Works Assn. has been pumping out news releases all week. Tap water, they remind us, "is the primary ingredient in hundreds of thousands of everyday products, including many foods and beverages."
They reassure us that "water utilities monitor for more than 100 contaminants and must meet close to 90 regulations for water safety and quality."
And they remind us that "only tap water delivers fire protection."
Unlike, we're guessing, Root Canal Awareness Week (that was April 1 through 7), Drinking Water Week is quite the jamboree: Water utility employees and their communities have been celebrating all week with "fairs, programs, contests and other exciting events."
