Thanks to subtle biological and lifestyle shifts, 30 is a pivotal age for preserving the health of your skin and hair. Here are tips from Women's Health:
1. GET RID OF CELLULITE
There is no magic cure for cellulite, but you can increase the effectiveness of cellulite creams by using them in conjunction with over-the-counter retinoid creams, which have been shown to stimulate collagen. Also, add simple weight-training exercises such as squats and lunges to your cardio routine three or four times a week to tone up and blast fat.
2. SMOOTH OUT WRINKLES
Cut down on processed foods, quit smoking and don't drink excessively - these habits all contribute to the premature signs of aging. Also, wearing broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 is the best thing you can do for your skin. Plus, put a layer of an antioxidant serum under your sunblock. Research shows that vitamin C in particular can help make sunscreen more effective.
3. THICKEN YOUR THINNING HAIR
A well-balanced diet rich in B vitamins, protein and omega-3 fatty acids, along with a daily multi-vitamin with hair- and nail-strengthening biotin and zinc is a great pre-emptive strike. If your hair has already started thinning, the cause could be a thyroid condition or PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome), both of which are treatable.
