Walking tours explore two of Pasadena’s most architecturally rich neighborhoods
Explore two of Pasadena’s most architecturally rich neighborhoods as the preservation group Pasadena Heritage hosts walking tours of the South Orange Grove and Hillcrest neighborhoods on Dec. 30.
The South Orange Grove tour will highlight the community where the annual Rose Parade begins. It used to be a neighborhood known as Millionaires’ Row. Today, it is lined with midcentury garden apartments. Follow along with Pasadena Heritage preservation director Jesse Lattig as the architectural historian discusses the neighborhood’s evolution from mansions to postwar garden apartments.
On the Hillcrest neighborhood tour, guests will witness a variety of architectural styles including Mediterranean, Victorian and Craftsman-inspired homes. The tour will include the Freeman House by architects Arthur and Alfred Heineman and the Blacker House, pictured above, by Charles and Henry Greene.
What: Pasadena Architectural Legacy Tour
When: There will be two tour times offered for each of the walking tours - 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Dec. 30.
Where: Meeting locations will be provided upon purchase of a ticket.
Tickets: $15 for Pasadena Heritage members; $20 for non-members.
