Michael Smith 4

“Michael S. Smith Houses” loses some steam in its middle section, which delves into the designer’s creative process. The text is less entertaining and more self-indulgent, saved largely by more beautiful photography and captions that wisely stay on point. In this vignette, Smith writes, he’s playing with shapes: the circles of the clock, cameos and keyholes, played off the squares in the wallpaper and the diamonds on a 19th century Russian desk.
