Alternative rocking horse for the thoroughly modern child

Share

Designed in the early 1960s by Gloria Caranica, the Red Ball Rocker remains a masterful abstraction of the traditional rocking horse. Industrial Woodworking Corp., the Michigan company that until recently manufactured the toy for Design Within Reach, is marketing the bent plywood piece as part of its Knú collection of furniture. The firm uses Forest Stewardship Council-certified products, adhesives that are free of volatile organic compounds and hardware that can be recycled. The rocker is $265 and sold through www.getknu.com.
