The Restoration Hardware Sputnik Filament Chandlier (size large) is $995. Says Rolston: "This is fairly expensive. The piece combines a bit of Atomic Age 'Sputnik' design with oiled bronze (an influence from early modernism and industrial design) and also includes filament bulbs. It's a very 'now' kind of piece. I don't know if it's timeless, but it's of-the-moment. It's unique and dramatic. This is like jewelry for the room. It's a good scale -- big and gutsy. If you found something with this much presence in a designer showroom (rather than here at retail), you could easily spend $10,000 to $20,000. This is a lot of look for the price. Tuned to a low level, over a dining table in a tobacco- or graphite-colored room, it would be very chic."
