The home office of landscape designer and Brock Galerie co-owner Tom Kurthy is simple and inexpensive. He says his bachelor unit in the fabled 1920s Los Altos apartment building on Wilshire Boulevard is less than 300 square feet, a place that he says "might've been part of the love nest of William Randolph Hearst and Marion Davies." Kurthy set up a drafting tabletop on a desk he bought in the mid-1990s at Mortise & Tenon in Los Angeles. The work stool is a memento of his years studying landscaping at Pierce College in Woodland Hills.
