SpygateAfter dominating the New York Jets in their Week 1 victory, the New England Patriots were disciplined for videotaping the Jets' defensive signals: the NFL fined head coach Bill Belichick $500,000, fined the team $250,000 and made the Patriots forfeit their 2008 first round draft pick. The incident was revisited when the Boston Herald ran a story that alleged the Patriots filmed the St. Louis Rams' walkthrough prior to the Patriots first Super Bowl victory. Around that time, former Patriots assistant Matt Walsh claimed to have information regarding the team's videotaping practices. After Walsh met with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell in May of 2008, Goodell stated that no new penalties would be levied against the Patriots. The Herald then printed a front-page apology for writing the walkthrough article, which it stated was false.
