Ray Bourque Ray Bourque played with the Boston Bruins from then 1979-80 season through 1999-2000 and was an All-Star for 18 of his 21 years as a Bruin, winning the Norris Trophy as the leagues best defenseman five times. He made it to the Stanley Cup Finals twice while playing in Boston, in 1988 and 1990, both times losing to the Edmonton Oilers. Bourque was traded in March 2000 to the Colorado Avalanche. He retired after the Avalanche won the Stanley Cup in 2001. In June 2001, Bourque brought the Cup to Boston for a rally in his honor at City Hall Plaza.
