The Red Sox brought in Bichette, who was at the tail end of his career, to provide power to their lineup and depth in the outfield. Bichette finished the 2000 season as the team's DH, and hit .289 with seven home runs and 14 RBI in 30 games with the Red Sox. The Red Sox finished 2.5 games out of first place in the AL East in 2000 and missed the playoffs. Bichette stayed on for the 2001 season, playing again as DH as well as the corner outfield spots.
