Former guard/forward Scott Burrell spent eight years in the NBA, playing for the Charlotte Hornets, Golden State Warriors, Chicago Bulls and New Jersey Nets. In 1998, he won a championship as a reserve for the Bulls. His best statistical season came with Charlotte in 1995-96, when he averaged 13.2 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. Burell went to Hamden High School and chose playing basketball at the University of Connecticut over playing for baseball's Seattle Mariners, who drafted him out of high school. He currently serves as an assistant coach for the Quinnipiac men's basketball team.
