Samuel Colt's Civil War uniform, including these epaulettes and shoulder boards, was acquired recently by the State Library's Museum of Connecticut History. The uniform, along with many other Colt family items, had been stored for forty years in the attic of a Litchfield County summer cabin owned by one of Colt's descendents until they were offered to a local antiques dealer who arranged to purchase the artifacts for the museum. The uniform will be on display in the museum's Civil War exhibition scheduled to open in September.
