If trad jazz is your thing, the summer scene offers the Hot Steamed Jazz Festival June 26 to 28 at the Essex Steam Railroad, Essex ( www.hotsteamedjazz.com) and The Great Connecticut Traditional Jazz Festival July 31 to Aug. 2 at Mountain Ridge Resort, Wallingford ( www.greatctjazz.org). Among the prize rarities is the 80-year-old piano wizard, Bob Seeley, one of the last master practitioners of boogie-woogie, a virtuosic, blues-soaked, rollicking and rolling style. At the Great Connecticut, this happy hybrid of rockin', swing and rollin' good times is best exemplified by Igor and His Jazz Cowboys from Tempe, Ariz. A jazz posse decked out in cowboy garb, the western swing band is an amusing, irreverent, surreal mix of Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys, Gene Autry, the Three Stooges and Spike Jones.
