Chris Peters (left) high fives his cousin Paul Sullivan (center) after a ceremony dedicating The Mike Peters Bridge, a pedestrian walkway linking the Connecticut science and convention centers named for the late former mayor of Hartford, fondly known as Mayor Mike. Peter's widow, (and Chris's mother) Jeannette Peters (right) touches a memorial bench that was unveiled at the dedication ceremony. Peters, a former Hartford firefighter who served as mayor from 1993 to 2002, died of liver disease in January 2009. The bridge is operated and maintained by the Capital City Economic Development Authority (CCEDA). The bench sits at the Science Center side of the bridge.
