In need of some pop in the lineup and a rightfielder, the Yankees seemingly found their solution in Mondesi, giving up lefty prospect Scott Wiggins. Mondesi, a former All-Star and Gold Glove winner hit 11 home runs with the Yankees that year, though his average was only .241 through 71 games with New York. After a slow start to the 2003 season, the Yankees dealt Mondesi to Arizona. Wiggins appeared in just three games in his big league career.
