November 22, 1963 - John F. Kennedy Assassination
On November 22, 1963, while riding in a motorcade in Dallas, Texas, President John F. Kennedy was shot and killed. He was the fourth U.S. president to be assassinated. Lee Harvey Oswald was charged with the killing, but was killed by Jack Ruby before he could stand trial. An investigation by President Lyndon B. Johnson concluded that Oswald was the killer, though this conclusion has been the subject of debate ever since. Kennedy was the second child of Joseph P. Kennedy and Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy and the third of the nine Kennedy children to die of unnatural causes.
