The Mariners open a three-game series against
Minnesota tonight at Safeco Field.
Miguel Batista starts for the M's and Francisco Liriano for the
Twins.
The Twins are in the Central Division race, only half a game
behind the White Sox.
The Mariners beat the A's yesterday 8-4. Felix Hernandez allowed
three runs - all solo homers - in six innings and earned his first
win in more than a month. J.J. Putz picked up his ninth save of the
year. Jose Lopez and Kenji Johjima homered for Seattle.

The Twins have made a trade with Texas to
acquired former Minnesota and Seattle reliever Eddie Guardado to
bolster their bullpen.
The 37-year-old had a 3-3 record with an ERA under four this
year as the closer for the Rangers.
