Seattle Mariners outfielder Milton Bradley was arrested earlier today in Encino, California and booked into a Van Nuys jail for felony violation of California penal code section 422, which involves making criminal threats.
Bradley was released at around 5:40pm this afternoon on $50,000 bail. His arraignment date is set for February 8 at Van Nuys Municipal Court.
Police responded to a call around 8:40 this morning, and after meeting with the female victim, concluded that a criminal threat did occur.
CA Penal Code 422 makes it illegal to threaten to kill or injure someone, when the threat clearly arises fear in the victim. The punishment or penalty for criminal threats in California is up to three years in state prison. It is now considered a strike under California’s three strikes law.Copyright © 2014, Los Angeles Times
