Mauro Rosales scored the first-half winner and Kasey Keller posted his eighth shutout as Seattle Sounders FC earned its first victory in Texas with a 1-0 win over Western Conference foe FC Dallas at Pizza Hut Park on Saturday night.

Sounders FC (12-5-9, 45 points) jumped FC Dallas (12-7-7, 43 points) in the standings to reclaim second in the West. Seattle is now 1-3-3 all-time in the state of Texas and improves to 6-3-5 on the road this season.

Lamar Neagle began the scoring sequence in the 16th minute when he found Fredy Montero in the middle of the pitch. Montero brought the ball forward and touched it to Rosales who was charging down the right side. Rosales slotted a low right-footed strike inside the post from 16-yards.

Rosales scored his fourth goal of the season while Montero provided his sixth assist.

Sounders FC played with a man advantage after Daniel Cruz was issued his second yellow in the 56th minute. Seattle is now 7-0-2 all-time when finishing a match with a man advantage.

Seattle's defense held strong as FC Dallas fired 25 total shots.

Keller made two critical stops in second-half stoppage time to preserve the three points. First, he dived to punch away a free kick and then quickly got back on his feet to push Bruno Guarda's rebound attempt wide.

Keller also denied Dallas in the 31st minute when Daniel Hernandez's free kick found Ugo Ihemelu in the box. Ihemelu snapped a header on frame that Keller tipped over the bar.

Keller also blocked Marvin Chaves' attempt in the 72nd minute after Chaves cut back in the box and fired a shot from 6-yards. Dallas' Jair Benitez hit the crossbar in the 51st minute.

Keller is now tied with Kevin Hartman with a league-leading 12 wins in goal.

Second-half substitute Alvaro Fernandez nearly added a second tally in the 77th minute when Neagle sent a cross to the back post but Fernandez's header missed wide.

Montero had an overhead attempt after a corner kick in the 67th minute that missed wide and Brad Evans sent a curling shot from 20-yards towards goal in the 85th minute that also missed wide.

Seattle and Dallas are the only two MLS teams still in three competitions. The two sides will meet again in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup semifinal on August 30 at Starfire Sports Stadium.

Sounders FC will face reigning CONCACAF Champions League winner CF Monterrey on Tuesday night in Mexico. Live coverage on Fox Soccer begins at 5 p.m. PT.
