Police are investigating the cause of an fire inside a King County Metro Transit bus facility in Seattle early Thursday morning.

A fire started around 1 a.m. in the Ryerson Base -- also known as the "bus barn" -- near Safeco Field.

Metro officials think airbags exploded on a bus that mechanics had been working on. The explosion caused the tires to catch fire.

A fire department official said there was so much smoke in the building when they arrived, some of the crew members initially couldn't tell what was on fire.

No one was hurt in the incident. Metro says the next step is figuring out why there was an explosion.

Metro also says the fire will not affect any bus routes this morning.
