Seattle Storm veteran Swin Cash has been named Western Conference Player of the Week for games played June 27-July 3, 2011. It marks the fifth time Cash has earned the Player of the Week award, and the first in the 2011 season.
Connecticut’s Tina Charles earned the Eastern Conference honor for the week.
Cash, in her fourth season with Seattle, posted a season-high 25 points and nine rebounds and was a perfect 12-for-12 at the free throw line in a 75-70 loss at Connecticut, July 1. She followed that with 19 points, seven boards and two assists to lead Seattle in a 73-63 victory at Washington. The two-game totals put her atop the Western Conference in scoring (22.0 ppg) and fourth in rebounding (8.0 rpg) for the week.
For the season, Cash is averaging 15.6 points and 7.1 rebounds per game.
The Storm (5-3) plays the last of three road games tonight, July 5, facing the Indiana Fever (7-3) at 4:00 p.m. PDT (7:00 p.m. EDT) at Conseco Fieldhouse. The game can be heard on KTPK Radio 1090 and viewed online via LiveAccess on StormBasketball.com.
