DALLAS (AP) - Thousands of Texas Baptists are responding to anationwide "Buckets of Hope" food drive for earthquake victims in Haiti.
Participants are packing each 5-pound plastic bucket with enoughrice, beans, flour and other staples to feed a Haitian family forabout a week.
State organizers say more than 9,000 buckets, or roughly 270,000pounds, of food have been collected. About one-third has come frommembers of Prestonwood Baptist, a megachurch in the Dallas suburbof Plano.
The food will go to five locations across Texas before theSouthern Baptist Convention North American Mission Board transportsit to Haiti.
