Celebrity news is exciting. But you know one way to make it even more interesting? Betting on it.
Pick.fm launched last week to give entertainment gurus the chance to show off their pop culture savvy.
Part blog and part game, the site encourages users to predict which celeb is going to get down on a knee, who's going to wear what at the Oscars, and my personal favorite: Who's going to win The Bachelor?
It works much like a stock market, only players don't use real money. Everyone starts off with 25,000 virtual dollars and places bets on everything Hollywood. You know, the important stuff in life like will George Clooney propose? Will Angelina make it on the Best-Dressed Oscar list? Will Janet Jackson be an X-Factor judge?
It's a fun site that plays on our obsession with famous people and fashion trends. The company told Bloomberg it hopes to use the data it collects to help companies make better products.Copyright © 2014, Los Angeles Times
