A beautiful blonde enters the room. Bubbly and bright and ready for the lights, camera, and tea & crumpets?
So, she didn't request high tea. Alice Eve is Molly in "She's Out of My League" and she's a Brit. You'd never know after watching the movie. She convinced me as an all American girl (how do they lose the accent?). But Alice is not only British but the child of British acting stars. Mom and Dad even star in the movie about the geeky guy that get's the hot girl. She's out of Kirk's league. Or is she? Alice doesn't think so. She roots for the underdog, even sells me. The movie is an easy sell.
Mum, Dad, and Alice were all under the direction of fellow Brit Jim Field Smith who showed no shame in seeking out his fellow country men and women to join him on his project.
And these guys and gals from across the pond know their hockey as "She's Out of My League" takes movie goers to a couple of hockey games courtesy of the Pittsburgh Penguins. I myself am more of an Aeros fan. I think Alice Eve's now a fan too after the players showed her a thing or two on the ice post interview. We met up at the Houston Aeros practice arena, an appropriate setting. A little loud, but fitting, and fun.
I suited up for a little friendly competition with the British actress. But oh hockey sticks! Neither one of us gals are any good. Well maybe Alice is, or at least she acted like it. After all, she's the professional actress, having even done Broadway. Her performance on the ice and on the big screen make her a winner and me a fan. It's a bloody good movie.
"She's Out of My League" is Rated R and it's a Mia must see movie.Copyright © 2014, Los Angeles Times
