25 years and still rockin`.
Poison front man & reality TV star Bret Michaels has come a long way from those days of big hair and eye-liner.
Ok...he`s still wearing the eye liner...but he looks great doing it.
But Bret Michaels isn't your run-of-the-mill rock star.
He's a survivor.
"A year ago today I was in a coma from the brain hemorrhage...and if you would have asked me if I would be here today ...a lot of people probably wouldn't have thought that." Said Michaels
And after a year of suffering debilitating health problems...Michaels stepped out of a private plane in Houston...en route to a solo performance in Katy.
"First of all I think anyone who knows me knows I love Texas."
After all, it was in the Lone Star state where Michaels penned one of the greatest power ballads of all-time.
(Every Rose Has It's Thorn)
You could say life is all roses now for the rocker...
He's just days away from releasing his next solo album...then it's on to a summer block-buster tour with fellow 80's rockers...Motley Crue.
They'll take the stage at Toyota Center Friday, June tenth.
"I'm gonna throw down this year...Houston is gonna be huge & i'm gonna have a party here"
Besides living the rock-and-roll lifestyle...Michaels makes it his mission raise millions for charity.
Whether it's for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Saint Jude`s Children's Hospital or visiting our troops overseas...Bret Michaels is there with a big grin on his face.
And that can give all of us something to believe in.Copyright © 2014, Los Angeles Times
