Major League Baseball's best team just got way better, thanks to some help from the Astros.
That's right! N-L’s East-leading Philadelphia is making a huge splash acquiring Hunter Pence from Houston for a package of minor leaguers and a player to be named.
The Astros are also giving Philly $2 million to cover the rest of Pence's hefty salary for this year.
Pence learned about the deal during the Astros-Brewers contest in Milwaukee last night.
What are the Astros thinking? They're already dead last in the majors, but decide to send their all-star right fielder to the Phillies?
So, what's up with the Astros always sending guys to Philadelphia?
Remember when Roy Oswalt left Houston, and then pitched the Phillies to the N-L Championship series last year?
And how can anyone forget about Brad Lidge going to the Phillies in 2008 before leading them to their World Series Championship.
Now Pence is leaving H-town?
The joke in Philly must be true: Astros general manager, Ed Wade, seems to put together a better Phillies team from Houston then he ever did during his general manager days in Philadelphia.
Sorry Houston fans. You deserve better.Copyright © 2014, Los Angeles Times
