Former First Lady Barbara Bush was on hand at McDougle Elementary School in Klein ISD Tuesday for the ribbon cutting of the Reading Express.
The Reading Express is a school bus that's been converted into a library on wheels. The bus will visit kids in the summer and help kid who do not have an easy way to get to the nearest library.
The project is made possible with a grant totaling $25,000 from the Klein Education Foundation, which is a fund set up in 2001 to help teachers cover costs not covered by the district's budget.
The 84-year-old former First Lady has been involved in promoting literacy since her days in the White House. It's a cause that's very important to her.Copyright © 2014, Los Angeles Times
